The same familiar faces walk through the door. Friendly faces with warm, welcoming smiles. Not unlike those of your good friends. Everyone has something to say and all are keyed up and ready to play (No, not you Martin. Far too casual!)
But!! These familiar faces don’t know each other!
After the introductions we set about squashy type things that, although familiar to me, were largely unknown to the smiley bunch of players.
The time passed very quickly indeed in a flurry of quick fire games. Laughter was my overriding memory of the evening between shortness of breath and gritted teeth. After all it is still squash. And you still play to win! Right?!?
Strangers no more we all left sated having enjoyed playing new people. Sharing a familiar space with someone new doing something different.
Now……..club night is supposed to be fun…tick. It’s supposed to help draw the club together….tick. It’s supposed to be there for those of you that enjoy your squash and want to meet/play someone different….tick.
It’s there for you.
Many thanks to those that came. I had fun too.
ps. Anna. Sorry you didn’t get a full set 😉
