About Comberton Squash Club
Comberton Squash Club is a friendly, active and welcoming squash club based at Comberton Village College in Cambridgeshire. The club has three courts, including a glass-back court, and offers squash for players of all ages and abilities. Whether you are a complete beginner, a returning player, a junior looking to learn, or an experienced player wanting competitive squash, Comberton provides a supportive place to play and improve.
The club has a long history in the village, dating back to 1971, when Comberton Village College Squash Club was first formed. From modest beginnings, with around 25 members paying 50p each to play, the club quickly grew in popularity. A second court opened in 1975, followed by further development as membership and demand continued to increase.
Today, Comberton Squash Club has a strong and varied squash community. The club offers beginner squash, racketball, coaching, internal leagues, junior squash, and competitive team squash. Members can play socially, take part in regular club activities, or represent the club in county leagues. The club currently lists three mixed teams and a ladies team, along with internal leagues for different standards.
Junior squash is an important part of the club. Comberton has a proud history of developing young players, with junior coaching and opportunities for children to progress into friendly matches, junior competitions and team squash. The club’s junior section has been a long-standing strength, supported by committed coaches and volunteers.
Coaching is available for different levels of player, from beginners through to more experienced players looking to improve their technique, movement and match play. The club website notes regular beginner sessions, racketball, Sunday training and coaching support from qualified coaches.
Comberton is also proud of its community feel. The club is run with the support of a committed committee and enthusiastic volunteers, with income reinvested into maintaining and improving the courts and facilities. The aim is simple: to provide good courts, friendly squash and opportunities for everyone to enjoy the sport.
