Last Saturday (20th December) saw the annual Agricole Doubles tournament comprising any junior in the U16 club membership category (or 16 or under covered in the family membership category) or a girl member of any age; in a team with any adult member.
Family teams are encouraged if a squash playing parent/guardian or grand parent is available for a junior. If not they can form a team with any club adult member – but the adult should preferably be ‘inter-generational’ choice – so not a student member or elder sibling!
The teams entered were:-
League 1
Casey Miller and Julie Miller (Daughter/mother)
Sarah Snelling and David Snelling (sister/older brother)
Harry Hennessy and Dave Bradbury (junior/friend)
League 2
Ellis Miller and Steve Swanson (junior/friend)
Mary Snelling and Rob Snelling (daughter/father)
Henry Waugh and John Siderov (son/father)
The first set of games was played to 3 with the following results:-
Casey and Julie bt Harry and Dave 2-0
Harry and Dave bt Sarah and David 2-0
Casey and Julie bt Sarah and David 2-0
Ellis and Steve bt Mary and Rob 2-0
Ellis and Steve bt Henry and John 2-0
Henry and John bt Mary and Rob 2-0
Then The winners of League 1 played the runners up of league 2 in one semi final, with the winners of league 2 playing the runners up in league one for the other semi final. results as follows:-
Harry and Dave bt Ellis and Steve 2-0
Casey and Julie bt Henry and John 2-0
Then matches were played to establish 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th positions
the final was then played between the semi-final winners, this time to 5.
Harry and Dave managed to turnaround the 2-0 earlier defeat to Casey and Julie to win 3-1 and take the trophy
