On 18th December, club members gathered for the Ray Scrivens Christmas competition, raising funds for the Juniors at the club. Teams of three, each named after Santa’s Reindeer, played a round robin. First, second and third strings from each team played six minutes of continuous squash between whistle blows. To increase the money raised, fun ‘Jokers’ were available to purchase to hobble your opponent. There was a 10kg waistcoat for them to wear or two ‘special’ rackets with missing strings for them to play with, as well as other ways to tilt the playing field in your favour (at a cost). Thanks to Amanda Fuller for organising the event and to Andy D’Alessandro for creating the forfeits. We raised £170 for the Scrivens fund and had a great time at the same time.
