The Club Refurbishment will soon be starting .  At the AGM, the members overwhelmingly supported the revised vision for the club, with a new social area behind a refurbished glass-walled Court 1.  Comberton Village College has granted permission for the club to begin work on Phase One, which covers the following improvements:

  1. Complete renewal of the changing rooms with new flooring, lighting, furniture and cubicle showers
  2. New entrance doors to the changing rooms
  3. Removal of hot water cylinders from the changing rooms and new hot water system installed with services cupboard located on the Court 3 balcony.
  4. Relocation of electrical installation from the wall above the changing room entrances
  5. Construction of a new accessible WC and private changing room at the end of the corridor behind court 3
  6. Redecoration of the corridor behind court 2 and 3, with new ceiling and improved lighting.

The building works will necessarily cause some disruption , for example the ceiling in the corridor will be removed for a period, to be replaced once services have been installed in the void.  Connecting the new WC is likely to require excavation of the corridor floor.

The team delivering the improvements will endeavour to limit the disruption, but changing rooms and court 3 are likely to be put out of action for periods during this phase – keep an eye out for emails with further information.

The Club has sufficient financial reserves to deliver Phase 1, accumulated from Covid-19 grants.  Phase 1 is a significant improvement to the facilities on its own, but the intention is that once phase 1 is complete, funds can be raised from members pledges to deliver Phase 2, including a glass back to Court 1 and the new social area.

Call for Working Party to Decide Finishes

The Committee would like to put together a small group of four or five people to research and decide on fixtures and finishes – choosing tiles, paint colour, shower heads and controls, light fittings.
