Cambs Junior League Division IV held their play-off day at two venues on March 3rd, but all the Comberton teams (three of them, including a specially assembled “reserve” team!) were in action at Fenland SC.
Comberton 5A had only one team match to play – against the home club – but they produced a great performance to end the season. Our no. 3, Archie Tod, served well throughout and marmelised his opponent for the loss of only 5 points. Millie Banks at 2 produced another very energetic display to take her match 3-0, getting steadily more on top as the match progressed. Team captain Matt Peer rounded things off with his customary skilful performance for a comfortable win, and in doing so completed a 12-0 whitewash for us.
The team matches were followed by individual challenges for places on the Junior County ladder. Archie and Matt both won their challenge matches, while Millie, who specialises in marathons, lost her challenge 12-10 in the fifth game!
An all-round excellent performance by some of our club’s youngest players – well done, squad!
