Yesterday we announced the closure of the squash club following a government announcement on Friday evening. We are a club run for the benefit of its members. Having now had time to reflect on the impact of this, the club committee has decided that it is not fair to expect members to continue to pay for membership when they cannot play.
You do not need to take action – the do-nothing position is your membership fees stop while the club is closed.
Members on Direct Debit
Unless a member instructs us to the contrary, the club will stop direct debits for membership fees in April and restart them in the month the club re-opens.
The club does have ongoing costs to meet even when the courts are not in use and we hope that members will consider continuing to pay their monthly direct debit to support the club avoid depleting its reserves. If you are willing to do so, please contact the club treasurer, Graham Broughton, with the option to continue to pay in full or at a reduced rate of 50% during the closure.
Members Paying Annual in Advance
If you have already paid a full membership fee for the year 2019-20, the club will discount your 2020-21 membership by the number of months that the club was closed (again unless you instruct us to the contrary).
