Internal leagues

The last Winter leagues come to an end next Sunday, after which we’ll be moving straight into the Summer Leagues! They are available in the Club or can be found here on SquashLevels.

Please do contact Alistair (email here) if you would like to join the leagues.

Based on the results of the last leagues, and some matches since, we can reveal the Comberton most improved player of the month (as per SquashLevels) – Isaac Broughton with a mighty 14.4% improvement! Just behind is Danny Waller with a 13.3% increase.

Cambs Cup Finals

Next Saturday (28th March, from 1:00pm) we have two Comberton Teams taking part in the County Cup finals:

  • Comberton I will play Cambridge II in the Light Blue Plate final

  • Comberton III will play Stamford II in the Hereward Cup final

  • There will also be the Light Blue Cup and the Hereward Plate finals as well

Please do consider travelling over to Hunts County to support our teams

2026 County Closed Tournament

The 2026 County Closed will take place at the end of April, and is always a lot of fun. I’d encourage people to enter the premier tournament in the County.

Please see the poster below and the entry form can be found here.

Summer County Leagues

The County will be running Summer inter-club leagues again this year. As a reminder this competition runs as 3 string teams, mostly for fun and not taken too seriously. There isn’t any official hospitality afterwards but occasionally teams do pop by the local pub together, if there haven’t been too many dodgy stroke decisions.

The club is looking to run a number of teams this season so please do get in touch if you would like to take part. We’ve very happy to use these leagues to introduce new people to team squash, or to tempt players back into the fold after a break. We expect to have quite a bit of rotation in the teams, given that people are busy over the summer, so we don’t expect people to play in every fixture.

The indicative dates for the leagues will be (half 1) weeks of 4th May to 1st June and (half 2) weeks of 29th June to 27th July.

Please do let me know if you would like to be included in the squads, via emailing me here.

Club Championships

The Club will be running the annual Club Championships again, looking to run from 20th April to Finals Day on Sunday 17th May.

Depending on entries we expect to run the following:

  • Club (with a Plate)
  • Ladies
  • Handicap
  • Veterans (Over 45’s, with a Plate)
  • The Tony Hosking Cup (Vintage, Over 55’s)
  • Doubles
  • Racketball
  • Racketball Doubles

Please do either sign-up via email here, or using the sign-up sheets that will appear on the noticeboard at the club.

Please do consider entering the tournaments as they are a great way to meet new people in the club. Everybody who enters the handicap competition has a realistic chance of winning.

Junior Inter-county

A number of our juniors have been involved in action for the County in the finals of the Inter-county competitions, in Sheffield.

Under 19’s

Both Conner Harmer and Isaac Broughton represented the county (out of a team of 3, alongside Diego Pita), playing in the finals of Championship. A nice surprise was that all the matches played on a full glass court. Great quality squash, with the team finishing second, and gaining promotion to the top tier Premiership for next season. Details of the result can be seen here.

Under 15’s

Karl Reilly is also playing in the U15 team, in the Premiership final. The U15 had a few tough matches but managed to finish 4th. The draw can be seen here.

Winter County Leagues

The Winter League season has come to an end, and it’s proved to have been a great season for the club. The leagues can be found here. A summary is:

  • The 1st team are sitting second in Div 1, but will likely finish 3rd when Cambridge I play a rearranged fixture. At the half way stage a battle to avoid relegation seemed a distinct possibility, but the second half performances, as the team got used to life in Div 1, pulled them up towards the top of the table
  • The 2nd team finished 6th in the 2nd Division, one place above the relegation zone. Avoiding relegation was the goal for the year, and this was achieved with one game to go
  • The 3rd team finished 3rd in Division 4. This team has been used to introduce three juniors to team squash this year, and they have all excelled and the team has outperformed expectation
  • The Ladies team finished 4th, just 2 points below Cambridge in 3rd place. This is the first time in years that we have run a ladies team, and its great to see everyone playing.
